Training Programs & Courses

The central purpose of the CIFAL training programs is to develop and strengthen human capacities to respond to development challenges. We are also focused on facilitating City-to-City (C2C) partnerships.

At CIFAL Victoria, we design and accredit training opportunities to create platforms for dialogue, learning and knowledge transfer. These focus on our four themes: oceans, climate and sustainability; global health and well-being; Indigenous Knowledges and decolonization; and innovation and entrepreneurship. We can also partner with individuals across the University of Victoria (UVic)’s campus to co-design, co-develop and co-deliver training workshops. These workshops can support knowledge mobilization plans in research grants. They can drive organizational change within University Offices. And they can augment academic programming at UVic and beyond.

SDG training designed by
CIFAL Victoria

We designed our signature training program, Developing a Sustainability Mindset, to help university leaders, faculty and executives. This course helps develop the skills, knowledge and mindset for building sustainability practices into institutions. This includes operations, governance, outreach, teaching and research. It uses the UN Sustainable Development Goals as a holistic framework to advance transformative institutional change.
